Everything You Need to Know About Heated Socks

Thinking about getting yourself a pair of heated socks?

If so, you’ve come to the right place.

For whatever reason, it always seems that no matter how many layers you decide to deck yourself out in before going outside in the cold, there’s always a point when your feet start to feel numb.

Centuries of science tell us that this is because when the temperature outside drops, the blood vessels in our limbs start contracting, and the blood that would otherwise flow freely to these extremities starts to slow down, causing your body heat to drop.

This is why when you’re in the cold, your hands and feet feel cold to the touch. Whether you’re working or performing activities like skiing, snowboarding, or biking, having cold extremities can make it extremely difficult to concentrate on the task at hand.

Luckily, we have heated socks to thank.

These new and innovative pieces of technology use built-in heating systems that keep everything from the soles of your feet to your toes warm and toasty, no matter what kind of weather you’re in.

The knee-high designs keep them securely fitting to your calves, optimizing the way they perform and spreading warmth.

If you’re on the fence about investing in a pair of heated socks, let us tell you about all the advantages they offer.

How Do Heated Socks Work?

Heated socks use rechargeable batteries that run heat through a series of electrical wires to keep your feet warm.

These socks in a variety of sizes, styles, and shapes, though the basic form and function remain the same, no matter the pair.

Our most popular pair of Kemimoto heated socks use a remote-controlled design, allowing you to adjust the temperature to suit your needs without having to bend over and reach under your pants.

The socks use three distinct temperature settings — low, medium, and high.

The lowest setting offers between 113 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit with seven to eight hours of battery life, while the highest setting offers between 131 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit with anywhere from five to six hours of use.

Regardless of the setting you choose to use, you get long-lasting comfort for outdoor activities during the winter.

The batteries inside our heated socks are designed with ergonomics in mind, fitting nicely on your calves to offer a slim, form-fitting feel.

Benefits of Heated Socks

Boots In The Snow

There are many benefits to owning a pair of heated socks.

For starters, our heated socks use lightweight material. This way, when you don’t have the heat turned on, they can be worn in temperate weather. You can decide how warm you want them to be, which is an advantage you don’t get with traditional socks.

Secondly, heated socks use warming components that send heat to the sole and work their way up your feet to your calves and shins, keeping the entirety of your extremities furthest from your feet as warm as possible.

Third, our heated socks are extremely versatile. As we noted before, you don’t have to have the heating element on when you’re wearing them, so if you’re going to work, heading for a nice dinner, or running some errands around town on a regular day, they offer a casual and stylish look with a pair of slacks and sneakers.

With unisex designs, they work well for everyone!

Lastly, our socks offer total mobility with a snug yet flexible feel. The spandex up near the top of the socks keeps them secure to the legs without ever feeling too tight, something that we wished more dress socks would adhere to.

Are Heated Socks Dangerous?

Kemimoto Heated Socks

As heated socks continue to grow in popularity, we continue to hear concerns about whether or not they are safe. After all, it’s understandable for people to feel weary about wearing materials with wires running through them, especially if they’re spending all day in the snow.

Luckily, as long as you buy heated socks from a reputable dealer like Kemimoto, safety does not need to be a concern.

Some people are concerned about electrocution when wearing heated socks.

Our heated socks are 100% safe for use, and while we do recommend repairing or replacing your socks if they get so damaged that the wires become exposed, they will not shock or burn you if they do.

The best thing you can do to stay safe, as with any product, is to read the manufacturer’s instructions and follow them carefully.

Can I Wash Heated Socks?

Yes, our heated socks can be washed; just make sure to take the battery out before washing. The wires, however, which run through the internal material of our socks, are completely washing machine-safe, so you don’t have to worry about removing anything else.

The material is made out of 95% cotton and 5% spandex, offering comfort and breathability when the heat isn’t running.

How Do Heated Socks Feel?

The way heated socks feel can differ depending on the material they’re made out of. As we said before, we use a combination of spandex and cotton to retain warmth and maximize the soft factor.

Our high-performance material blend also offers wicking performance, keeping your feet from retaining sweat, even at high heat. The upper portion of the sock uses a durable elastic, making sure that it stays secure on your calves, but not so tight that it reduces blood flow to the feet.

We know that you’re planning on spending all day in your socks, and the last thing we’d want to do is make it uncomfortable for you.

How Long Do Heated Socks Last?

Unfortunately, batteries do not last forever, and eventually, you may find yourself having to replace the batteries on your heated socks. While this will likely be years down the line, it’s important to note that replacing the batteries on our socks is easy and inexpensive.

Final Thoughts - Are Heated Socks Worth It?

No matter if you’re hunting for long hours in temperatures below freezing, working outdoors through a blizzard in the backcountry, or ice fishing up in the Arctic Circle, our heated socks will make sure your feet remain warm and comfortable.

Plus, heated socks are the perfect gift for friends and family who spend a lot of time in the cold.
